8/27/10 UPDATE:
Conflicts on how overtime is calculated ground things to a halt today.  Management's proposal regarding what counts as time worked included something your team (and you) consider a deal breaker.  While the union team stood ready to move to other articles, management opted not to return after the scheduled lunch break.  The next sessions are Sept. 8 and 9 and a 'to do list for each team has been generated.

Just for those who have never been to talks one thing we do is make sure that when the two chief negotiators (Banks Evans for the and Peter Denis for the employer) meet in a 'side bar' away form the table -- even if it's just to review who is supposed to bring what information or confirm times and places -- a member of the team goes with our negotiator.  Also every member of the team attempts to take notes (in addition to assigned note takers).  When questions of intent come up in a grievance or appeal the more sets of notes that agree on the intent the better.
